The Library collection

The collection consists of Antilliana and Judaica publications which date back to the 17th century. The original collection of Mongui Maduro forms the basis of the library. New publications are constantly being acquired so that it will continue to be an authorative source on the evolution of the political, social and cultural history of Curaçao in particular and the Dutch Caribbean and Caribbean region in general. Besides books, the collection contains also periodicals published in Curaçao or relating to Curaçao history and Jewish history in Curaçao.

Of major historical significance are the newspaper clippings which form a special section of the library. The collection is wonderfully complemented with special collections like postcards, programs, invitation cards, menus, maps, phonograph records and music scores. All those day-to-day items provide insight into everyday life of early days. All books and documents are well preserved and catalogued, ensuring that the collection is safeguarded for new generations.
With the up-coming online catalogue the collection will be available for both local and foreign researchers.
