Hòfi Rooi Catootje, The garden of the family Maduro and Unique Water Systems

Hòfi Rooi Catootje an authentic Curacao experience

A Journey Through Nature and History.

Hòfi Rooi Catootje, is a serene green oasis nestled within the historic estate of Rooi Catootje.
The Hòfi features a unique water system, from late 19 century, that has been revitalized after 90 years of dormancy. This restoration project, part of the ‘Awa pa Kòrsou’ initiative, aims to tackle climate-related challenges such as droughts and flooding, ensuring the preservation of Curaçao’s natural heritage.

Your hòfi adventure starts at the Mongui Maduro Museum.
Get you ticket and information and wander freely on a self-guided route or dive deeper with one of our guided tours. From May 2026.

Disclaimer

Please be aware that the Hòfi Rooi Catootje is a natural environment. As such, visitors may encounter insects, wildlife, and uneven terrain during their visit.
While we strive to maintain a safe and enjoyable experience, entry is at your own risk. We are not responsible for any interactions with these natural elements. We encourage all visitors to take appropriate precautions.

After heavy rain, the dams at Hòfi Rooi Catootje transform into flowing waterways. Most days, they’re dry, and accessible to walk in to.

  • Wear closed shoes and bring drinking water.
  • Do not enter during or after heavy rain or strong winds.
  • The terrain is uneven with long walking distances; A shorter, mostly level path leads to the largest sluice gate.
